Overview[]

A Vespa is a type of vanship used by the Sky Pirates in Last Exile - Fam, the Silver Wing.

Vespas are smaller than other types of vanships, but are still typically crewed by 2, a pilot and a navi. Like other airships, they use Claudia engines to fly. Vespas are armed with two harpoons, which are used to disable larger ships so they can be stolen.

Fam Fan Fan uses slightly changed version of Vespa - model KK006M-B.

This is first type of Vanship, which uses two of latest Claudia wheel type heating wire system electrodes. Thanks to that size of Claudia aircrafts can be dramatically reduced. Electricity generated by a battery (known as Claudia-Lithium-Air battery) with Claudia-Lithium solution instead of Claudia-Alcohol, or Claudia-Water solution is used to overheat liquid Claudia at the same time it is compressed inside single wheel type electroheater. It also reduces three times Claudia consumption, in comparison with conventional Vaships.

This method can be used only in small aircrafts, because weight of Claudia heating wire system created for bigger crafts would be too large and it couldn't sustain its own weight in hovering mode.

Trivia[]

  • Vespa is an Italian brand of scooter. The name means wasp in Italian.
  • The orange vespas the other Sky Pirates use was probably inspired by a Morgan 3 Wheeler.
